Bio
Cathleen Bailey is a writer, curator and self-taught textile, bead and doll artist, a 2011 grant recipient of The Pittsburgh Foundation, Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh; a 2009 recipient of The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts’ Master/Apprentice Fellowship in Traditional Quilting (as Master); a 2004 Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts Residency; and 2003 recipient of The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts’ Fellowship in Literature. Bailey’s beaded and textile art has shown in the Renwick Gallery of American Art (Washington, DC), among others. Bailey’s stories and poems have appeared in Shooting Star Literary Review, A & U Magazine, Cake Train, Sage Woman, Word Play Sound, Border Crossing and Linden Avenue Literary Journal. Bailey has shared her gift of combining creative writing and fiber art with various organizations including Brooklyn Public Library, Cuyahoga Valley National Park and The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Artists-in-Education Residency Program.
